I walked in to have blood work done. Right away lo noticed the original nurses were not there. I come to find out this was Quest! Not good
- - The university bought Quest; nurses were not available.
- - Blood from the draw ran down my arm and they used only a small bandaid.
So the usual nurses were gone. Found out university bought Quest.
They hurried me in took my blood. As I left blood was running down my arm. I turned around and went back in. They were only allowed to put a small bandaid on.
I made them wrap it.
They wouldnt even clean the blood off my arm. Had to go home and do it myself
User's recommendation: Get your blood drawn elsewhere
Bad customer service
- - Appointment on May 6, 25 with a colon/colorectal surgeon.
- - Medical info was faxed to the surgeon.
- - No plan, next steps, or call for a month.
I had an appointment on may 6,25 with a colon and colorectal surgeon. And since my appointment on may 6,25 i had more medical information faxed over to the surgeon that i had the appointment with.
And two of my local doctors where asking whats the plan from the surgeon and i have to tell them that surgeon office has been putting me off bow for a whole month with no phone call letting me know what the surgeon next step or plan is but i have been told absolutely nothing from the colon and colorectal surgeon office at uh hospital. And its very unprofessional from a bigger hospital facility
User's recommendation: If i where another smaller hospital referring my patient over to another specialist. That i would not refer any hody to uh hospital specialist doctors for anything

Verified Reviewer |Complaint gets you denied healthcare
- - The reviewer cites a rude secretary, denial of care, and retaliation claims.
- - 11/27/24 appointment canceled; Gurreri won't establish care.
I complained about a rude secretary and was denied healthcare. The patient advocate even was like oh well when I brought the retaliation to their attention.
UNBELIEVABLE!
me-That office just called and cancelled my now new appointment on 11/27/24 stating that Gurreri will not be able to establish care with me as a primary care doctor and yet when I call the UH scheduling line she is accepting new patients. Of course this happened after this complaint.
How is this not retaliatory?
Reply-I am sincerely sorry this was your experience. As you are not yet an established patient, the practice felt that given this experience, you would be better to establish with a different provider.
Preferred solution: to inform others
User's recommendation: Let staff be rude to you or be denied healthcare
Referral for ear pain and hearing loss
- - Ear infection treated with antibiotics and steroids.
- - Persistent right-ear pressure and hearing loss; long wait and Cleveland Clinic appointment.
Recently I had an ear infection in my right ear , I underwent (3) rounds of antibiotics (1) round of steroids . Prednisone 2 rounds of nasal decongestant spray and a single round of antibiotic drops for inside my ear, After the pain went away I was still suffering from pressure and a total lack of hearing in my right ear.
My doctor referred me to an ENT to be seen . The first thing they told me I needed and had to do was an audiology test ??? How the *** can I do an audiology test when I cant hear ??? Next they tried to schedule an appointment for me and told me I would have to wait until December because Im a new patient!
lol I called around and got an appointment with another doctor in a week through the Cleveland Clinic. Super disappointed in the university hospitals, maybe I shouldve waited until Im in the hospital or lose my hearing permanently!!!
All beverages were diet
- - Diet sodas with aspartame blamed for cancer; hospital serves only diet drinks.
- - Doctors advise against diet sodas and favor light roast coffee.
As a cancer survivor I understand the diet sodas contain aspartame which is know to cause cancer. When I asked the clerk if there were any non diet drinks and was told no.
I said I was surprised a hospital would only use diet sodas as they can cause cancer. She asked me how did I know, I said doctors advise against it. They also only have strong/bold coffee.
Doctors advise light roasted is the best for people to drink.
Just wondering why the folks who purchase supplies for the cafe are not aware of this. I did find a soda machine that had regular soft drinks, but there again not the ones that are made with real sugar, which is better that the high fructose corn syrup thats in the beverages.

Verified ReviewerOB Gyn issue not addressed for six years
- - UH paperwork claimed positive pap and hysterectomy; file lost.
- - Doctors can't verify after six years.
- - Diabetes misdiagnosis; hypoglycemic, not diabetic.
I moved from Fl with OB Gyn paperwork saying I had a positive pap and need a hysterectomy. Gave it to my new UH ob gyn and it was promptly lost and the info never entered my chart.
Since then its been six years of hearing theres no proof from two different drs, as if Im lying. Ive been told good luck with that from the first dr I had and now the second says my problem is from diabetes. I told her I dont have diabetes. Im hypoglycemic.
Her response wellwhatever. And left the room. Told me to make yet another appt for a pap. They put me on a waiting list for August.
Waiting list. Im so done with UH since they were bought up and put their Drs on productivity scales, care has become atrocious. People have to be dieing because of lack of care.
So sad. Moving on to the Cleveland Clinic.
User's recommendation: Good luck getting good care at UH

I told them I have a vascular disease you need to do a ultrasound to get a vein they didn't do it till after they stuck me 12 times
I need to speak up
- - ER service and ethics are described as terrible.
- - Staff are aggressive, cold, and disrespectful, and some doctors should be reported.
The service, morals, principles, ethics at the ER of Saints John University hospital are terribly and horrible. The medical team their are aggressive, cold and have lack of humanity. They speak to patients and their parents or partners with disrespect. They use awful voice of tone, the way they talk is like they are talking to prisoners not patients. Some doctors must be reported to the state medical board of Ohio due to their horrible attitude and the way they deal with patients and their beloved. I say before you they become doctors or nurses they need to put their manners first.
Horrible
- - Mental health is described as a joke, a doctor yelled at a coworker and the manager did nothing, and they threaten hospitalization for small issues.
This hospital sucks as an employee and a patient. The mental health department is just a joke.
They will threaten you with a psychiatric hospitalization over the smallest thing.
Is like no one knows what they are doing. I seen a doctor yell and push a coworker and the manager was sitting right there and she didn't do anything...
Wife's admission
- - ER waited over 24 hours for a room at University Hospital.
- - On 3/052024 she had surgery to remove a tumor from her front temporal lobe.
My wife has been in the ER for more than 24 hours waiting for a room. On 3/052024 she had surgery to remove a tumor on her front temporal lobe in the Lerner Bldg.
Yesterday she some sort of episode and in the ER they treating her as crazy.
UNACCEPTABLE. This all happened at University Hospital main campus in Cleveland, Ohio
User's recommendation: Go to the Cleveland clinic
Dr kept walking out during exam
- - I was double booked and left twice during the exam.
- - Concerns weren't addressed; weight discussed.
- - I felt judged and the provider seemed not present.
I think I was double booked. She walked out 2 separate times during my exam.
She didn't really address my concerns. After I told the nurse I didn't want to talk about my weight or know my weight, that was another topic of conversation.
I felt like I was being judged for my weight gain. She did not seem very compassionate or present.
Scheduling issue
- - Mammogram appointments were canceled due to a nonworking machine.
- - Geneva, Ohio was booked instead of Geauga County.
- - The technician was great.
Booked an appointment online. When I showed up for the appointment I was told they couldnt perform the test (mammogram) because the technician went home.
I rescheduled. The second appointment was cancelled because the mammogram
wasnt working. They rescheduled my appointment for the following week. When I showed up for that appointment I was told the person booking the appointment scheduled me to have the test in Geneva Ohio, 45 minutes from me.
I live in Geauga County. They said the girl accidentally put in Geneva because it was right next to Geauga. They tried to blame the mistake on the new system when in fact the person scheduling appointments cant read! Then they made me feel like it was my fault even though they could see I had two other tests done the same time my mammogram appointment was cancelled because the mammogram machine didnt work.
Thenl I had to register twice and they managed to squeeze me in but it made me late for another appointment I had elsewhere.
The technician was great and I just hope she didnt have to give up her lunch break to do my mammogram. The scheduling people at UH are terrible.
User's recommendation: Make sure you have the scheduling person repeat your appointment date, time and place several times then read it back to them at least twice.

Verified ReviewerThe worst hospital ever
Rude staff. Slow services.
Uncaring team members. Wrong contact numbers.
Wrong patient name. Dont get placed in Lerner Tower, they are the last in their class for Heart training
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Watch out if cared for in Lerner Tower. It looks like a place where go to die and no one cares.
On February 4 2022, I had an appt for a bone density at Orange place location I believe is considered in Beachwood Ohio
- - Text said I was checked in, but the system wasn’t working.
- - I waited in a running car for 90 minutes.
- - Danielle did the test; I vomited afterward.
My appt was at 11:30 at your Orange Place facility. I received a text that morning telling me that when I arrived to stay in my car and tap on that message to check me in.
I had arrived at 10:50 (was concerned about weather conditions). I then did so and the message back to me said I WAS CHECKED IN. Temperature was 23 degrees and I had 1/4 tank of gas. I sat there with my car running until !2:15 thinking appts were backed up.
I called the facility then and it just rang and rang with nobody answering for 20 minutes. I then decided to walk it to see if I could wait in the building. I was handed a mask and I said to the woman that I had been waiting in the car waiting to be called into the building for a long time way past my appt time. She said this has happened to so many people.
The system isnt working. Dont listen to that text. Next time just walk in. I went to the bone density dept at 12:45 and told them how I had been sitting.
She looked me up and said you arent checked in. I showed her my phone saying that I was checked in and she said this is happening to several people. We have been complaining for three months. Youve missed your appt.
we have to reschedule I told her that was unsatisfactory and that I was going to be taken immediately. She went back to speak with Danielle who gives the test. She came back and said that Danielle would take me now. Danielle gave up her lunch time to take care of me.
I am 75.
You kept me waiting in a car thinking I might run out of gas in freezing weather all that time FOR NOTHING!!! I was shaking so bad with anger that Danielle had to calm me down before she could help me. You should be ashamed of yourself for doing this to patients. The test got done and I vomited in the parking lot afterwards.
Note: the woman at the front desk and Danielle did try to calm me down and understood what I went through. You are lucky to have them. Very kind ladies. As for how you and your computer systems are handling this is worthless.
As I said before you should be ashamed of yourself. I am calling the tv stations and listing this all on social media!
Preferred solution: An answer as how you can do this to people. Call me on my phone! Clean up this mess for future patients!
User's recommendation: Don’t deal with University Hospital
Unsatisfactory
Hospital was a horror show! No one knew what they were doing!
How anyone can call them Heros is beyond! Acting nurse which was only a helper Kasie was the worst. Had no clue what she was doing and anything you asked for she completely ignored you. Kept blaming everyone else.
We got discharged at 12 pm didnt leave hospital until 3:30!
She should be ashamed to be working in hospital. Someone should teach her how to do her job!
User's recommendation: Beware!
