Nonexistent customer service during COVID-19

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had University Hospitals Physician Services in August 2020 and did not get billed until October 2020. The bill arrived as being PAST DUE with the due date as UPON RECEIPT. I called costumer service to ask how the first bill Ive received from them could be past due and got in their call back cuing line. They never called back so I tried to contact them TWICE through their online form and also got NO response. Not even an auto email to say they received my contact. I didnt want my account to show a past due payment when they didnt even send me a bill on time. I feel sorry for anyone having an URGENT issue!

Why is it that I have yet to come across a doctor at UH that uses the patient applications. I can send all the messages I want and I will get no response.

Dr Shimel Shah treated my wife to prepare her for liver transplant. He bypassed her when she was top of the list for the transplant.

Placed drain lines in her liver causing infection and serious bleeding.Dr Shah started the surgery and stopped halfway thru stating "too much bleeding". He is a terrible Doctor.

Our residential home receives clinical services but the quality for medical students coursework in the field is going down thanks to COVID and ZOOM. The Georgetown University students were supposed to provide us advice on incontinence and they showed us about 5 power point slides.

All it basically amounted to was learning to do Kegel exercises. We have deeper underlying issues with this client's including obesity, depression, communication patterns, trauma, abuse, substance abuse, cultural otherness, homelessness, mental health, past factors in suicidal ideation, cancer, and there were no linkups from these with incontinence. They did not pursue the need or why drinking more juices water smoothies might be related. No attempt to segway into the quality of our lives.

Why? Because they are each sitting in their plush student housing surroundings, maybe a home or sitting area, so they can't really SENSE what life is like here! For future training this course is "just an easy A" for them and you can sense how smug they feel being able to tell us how to do some exercises.

Waste of my time! I can get better info off the Internet.

Poor billing service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The billing department doesn't listen and the supervisors won't accept changes. They run off at the mouth and expect you to listen to them after you have given the information they need to do the billing.

I sent a letter to the supervisor and told her that she was incompetent and she and her employees needed more training. You have to call them over and over again before they correct problems. Your health insurance information is given to the doctor's or hospital when you visit them so I don't understand the problem. They had nerve to ask me to contact the VA for an authorization code.

I told them I don't work for UH and I refused to do it. She says, well we are trying to help you, but the truth is they are trying to help collect funds for UH. I told them I never have problems with their competitor, Cleveland Clinic and if I needed medical help I would select them second because of the problems in the billing department. They are a constant headache and they are poor representation to UH.

They need more training. The turnover must be tremendous. And some of the doctors in Cleveland are just as incompetent. I was very sick and they could not find the problem.

First they told me I had an aneurysm inside my sternum. I was so scared so I went to Cleveland Clinic and they said it was not true.

I took a urine sample while there and they never tested it so I went to Geneva Memorial and they took another sample and found out that I had a urine infection. I could go on and on about them, but I think you get the drift.

Billing for Dietican visit was a Nightmare

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to see a dietician March 2019. The office refused to take my copayment. Was later billed $40. Wrongfully paid the amount. Disputed on my Chase credit card. Received no support from Chase In December 2019 was credited $19. Medicare said I owed $19. University Hosptials did not bill my medicare advantage plan or secondary insurance at first. Received a call that the $21 was part of medicare deductible. I called and told to bill my secondary insurance. Medicare advantage was billed and said I owed $21, however still never billed to secondary insurance where my co-pay is $15, so I am owed $6 which I will never see.he The time and frustration I spent on this bill is crazy. I complained to the better business bureau twice, however Universtiy Hospitals still never could get a simple office billing correct.

Avoid it like the plague

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have a very long complaint list dealing with University Hospitals. The doctors that I have dealt with so far must be rejects since not a single one of them has been able to resolve a problem.

One just wanted blood sugar numbers and lab tests and give me prescriptions that I don't even need. Another reprimanded about nutrition but they only have a one size fits all list of food. Both doctors had to flip a coin to decide whether I was Type 1 or Type 2 diabetic. One tried to treat me for Type 1 even though I ended up being a Type 2 even though they had my medical records listed.

A podiatrist screwed up during my surgery because he did not follow my request to do something and managed to get my foot infected in the process. He let me bleed and I lost my job because I was unable to function and walk.

I left the UH system to get better services at the Clinic. They managed to get to the root cause of the problem and helped me to reverse Type 2 diabetes for good.

Most of these doctors need to be fired for malpractice.

Management is uncaring and inefficient.

My doctor’s family practice is currently under the University Hospitals system. The office staff and nurses at my doctor’s old location were so friendly, efficient and professional. The staff at University Hospitals’ North Royalton location are young and inexperienced, cliquish, openly gossipy, impersonal, and very rude and unprofessional. It seems staff are randomly assigned from a secretarial pool. The young nurses too are distracted, inattentive and appear bored and openly disdainful towards patients. This has never been my experience at the Cleveland Clinic or other locations. It’s unfortunate that my excellent doctor is under this poorly managed system. Billing and appointments are handled separately, and errors in scheduling are common occurrences. I now dread visits and am prepared to change doctors.

Application of payment

I received a bill for services in April 2019. The bill was for $20.00. I paid the bill in May 2019. In June I received another statement say the bill had not been paid. I went to my bank. Got a copy of the canceled check paying that bill. Called the number on the statement. Explained I have the canceled check. They gave me an email to send the copy of canceled check. I sent it immediately. I then kept getting statements showing the balance had not been paid. Received a statement July, August, September and each time I emailed the proof that I paid that bill. Each time in my email I would explain that they had misapplied the check to someone elses account and if that was not the case to show me where they applied the check that I sent them. Instead of doing their job and finding where the mistake was made they turned it over to collection. I now have called collection and also sent them a copy of the canceled check. I also sent a hard copy to the billing office in July. If it can be shown what they did with the payment I made maybe the problem could be solved. I will not pay the $20.00 again. No one seems to take pride in their job and offer the customer service that is needed. I most certainly can not search their records to see where they applied my check. I gave them my proof of payment. The billing office needs to give me what account they applied the check.

Very poor service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Saw Dr. Shreef at the U.H.

Parma on August first. Waited for more than 40 minutes to be seen for a scheduled appointment. Had tests and finally say the doctor. He explained the procedure for catteract operation and called in to pharmacy for 2 types of eye drops.

Was told that someone would call me when the operation would be scheduled. After waiting 2 weeks I called and was told can't do the procedure in Parma because the operation room is not completed but could go to a Westlake hospital. I am 75 years old and have no way to get to another location. Why didn't they tell me that when I went to the Parma office for the eye exam?

Got a call today saying I could schedule for October 28 in Westlake!

I informed the lady that I will be moving to a different part of the state on November 1. I am so mad and hope that I never have to deal with such unprofessional people again!

Do not use this hospital if you want to stay alive

I can’t even give you a one star. Fraud hospital. Horrible care. No communication. Just want to suck funds from your insurance card without giving you any care. This hospital in Cleveland should be shut down and investigated. I will make it my mission. Go right down the street to Cleveland clinic for help. They are top notch will help you and give you excellent care.

Complain about Doctor Jane Rupp

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went to University Hospital to get HPV vaccine injection. It is a three-times injection.

Before I decided to get vaccine, I checked with my health care plan and ensure the vaccine was 100% covered by my health care plan. So I think I don't need to pay anything for it.

However, University Hospital sent me two bills(I already got two injections, one more injection remained). Each bill is about $1000, and the majority fee is itemized as Hospital Service(about $950-$1000).

What the *** is the Hospital Service fee? All the service I got is the injection from doctor. Does the action of injecting worth $1000?????

I tried my best to contact University Hospital to get an explanation. But all the departments are shirking their responsibilities and no one treated my appeals seriously.

I feel I'm completely fooled and robbed by University Hospital.

I feel I'm fooled by Doctor Jane Rupp, who pretends to be nice and always has the fake smile, but issued an outrageous and insane bill to the patient.
